Cookies Disclaimer
COOKIE POLICY UNILIN GROUP
This is the cookie policy of the ‘Unilin Group’ (hereinafter “Unilin Group” or “we”). This cookie policy aims at informing you about the use of cookies by the Unilin Group. This cookie policy should be read together with the Unilin Group’s privacy policy, which is available here https://www.unilin.com/en/privacy-policy.
The cookie policy can be modified, e.g. as a result of new functionalities on the websites that require the processing of personal data or in accordance with certain legal requirements. We therefore recommend that you consult this cookie policy regularly. Important changes will be announced via our website and will apply from the moment published.
1 THE USE OF COOKIES BY UNILIN GROUP
We collect information through the use of cookies and other technologies such as pixel tags, browser analysis tools, server logs and web beacons (hereinafter “cookies”) for the purposes described in this cookie policy. We may include cookies on our websites, in marketing e-mail messages or our newsletter, on affiliated websites, etc., to determine whether messages have been opened and links clicked on. The information provided below about cookies also applies to these other technologies.
2 WHAT ARE COOKIES?
Cookies are small text files that are installed on your browser, on your computer or on your mobile device. They ensure that your device is recognised when you revisit the website. Cookies can have different purposes: to ensure that the website takes user’s preferences into account by, for example, remembering language preferences, collecting statistical data, adapting content etc. Therefore, there are different types of cookies that can be distinguished according to their origin, function and lifespan (see point 3.1 below).
3 WHICH COOKIES DOES THE UNILIN GROUP USE?
We use first-party cookies as well as third-party cookies, session cookies and permanent cookies:
- First-party cookies are cookies installed by the Unilin Group.
- Third-party cookies are cookies installed by other domains (e.g. Google Analytics cookies).
- Session cookies are deleted after the user closes the browser.
- Permanent cookies remain on the user’s device for a specific period of time.
Below you will find a list of the cookies used by the Unilin Group. For more detailed information on our cookies, we refer you to the ‘Vendor details’ in our cookiebanner, which can be found via de cookie settings at the bottom of the website.
3.1 STRICTLY NECESSARY COOKIES
Strictly necessary cookies or essential cookies are necessary for the website to function properly and cannot be deactivated in our cookie banner. These cookies are set directly on your browser by Unilin Group based on our legitimate interest in providing a well-functioning and secure website. You can set your browser to block these cookies or alert you about these cookies, but with as a consequence that some parts of the site may not work properly. You can also deactivate these cookies by changing your browser preferences.
3.2 FUNCTIONAL COOKIES
Functional cookies ensure that the website functions properly. These cookies improve the convenience of your website visit and improve the user experience. Functional cookies allow us to remember choices you make (such as your language preference) and provide more enhanced, personal features. These cookies cannot track your browsing activity on other websites and they do not gather any information about you that could be used for advertising or remembering where you have been on the Internet outside our sites.
We also use functional security cookies to ensure the security of our websites.
These cookies are set directly on your browser by Unilin Group based on our legitimate interest in providing a well-functioning and secure website and pages with content that is relevant for you. You can deactivate these cookies by changing your browser preferences (see point 4). However, in this case, the website might not function properly.
3.3 ANALYTICS COOKIES (NON-ESSENTIAL COOKIES)
Unilin Group uses analytics cookies to provide us with information about the use of our website and to optimise our website.
Analytics cookies are cookies that gather information to evaluate and improve the content of our websites. Analytics cookies collect information about your visit and use of this website, for instance which pages you visit the most often, and if you get error messages from web pages. These cookies are used to track the performance of the website, for example, to know the number of pages visited or the number of users who viewed a particular section. These cookies do not collect information that directly identifies a user. The analysis of these cookies generates aggregated statistics. They are useful for possible amendments and improvements to the website and all information these cookies collect is only used to improve the working and functioning of our website.
These cookies are set based on your consent. You can withdraw your consent at any time (at a later time) (see point 4).
3.4 (SOCIAL) SHARING COOKIES (NON-ESSENTIAL COOKIES)
We use social sharing cookies from LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, Facebook and other similar social media sites to enable you to share any content of our websites of your interest with other people on social networks. We may present targeted advertisements on these networks based on your interaction with our websites. These cookies are set on our website through hyperlinks, social plug-ins or links to social media operators. When you use these share buttons, a third-party cookie is installed (see also point 3.6).
Social plugins establish a connection with the servers of social network operators. With a further click you will be sent to the relevant social media page of the Unilin Group or one of its affiliates.
Your data will be transmitted to the operator of the respective social network. The Unilin Group enables the collection of the data by setting the social plugin on our website but has no influence on which data or the amount of data the social network collects with the help of the social plugin. The social networks receive information such as which of our websites you have currently and previously visited. Through the social plugin, a cookie with a unique identifier is set each time the website in question is accessed. This enables the social network to create a profile of your usage behaviour. It is possible that such a profile can be assigned to you in the event of a later initial registration with the social network, however the Unilin Group has no access to this profile.
If you are already registered with a social network while visiting our websites, the operator of that social network may be able to assign the visit to your personal account through the social plugins. When using social plugin functions (e.g. "Like" button, "Tweets", leaving comments …), the information about this usage is transmitted directly from your browser to the corresponding social network, and stored there. The same applies when calling up a website of a social media operator by clicking on the corresponding symbol button.
If you are not a member of a social network, it is still possible for the social networks to receive and store your IP address and information about the browser and operating system you are using through the social plugins.
These cookies are set based on your consent. You can withdraw your consent at any time (at a later time) (see point 4).
3.5 MARKETING COOKIES (NON-ESSENTIAL COOKIES)
Marketing cookies (e.g. advertising or tracking cookies) collect information about your browsing habits in order to make advertising more relevant to you and your interests.
We use (mainly) third party cookies from companies such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Google etc. to understand how users arrive on our websites and how they interact with us on the website. We also use these cookies to understand how our media campaigns work. This information is used to evaluate and improve the content of our website and our campaigns and ultimately to improve user experience.
We use marketing cookies to (i) deliver advertisements more relevant to you and your interests, (ii) to limit the number of times you see an advertisement, (iii) help measure the effectiveness of an advertisement campaign, and (iv) understand user’s behaviour after having seen an advertisement.
These cookies are set based on your consent. You can withdraw your consent at any time (at a later time) (see point 4).
3.6 IS COOKIE INFORMATION PASSED ON TO THIRD PARTIES (THIRD PARTY COOKIES)?
Some cookies we use are from third parties, such as Google, Adobe, Hubspot, LinkedIn, Facebook to provide us with web analytics and intelligence about our websites. These companies use programming codes to collect information about your interaction with our sites, such as the pages you visit, the links you click on and how long you are on our websites.
These cookies may however also collect information about you for their own purposes. This Cookie Policy does not apply to the use of your information by third parties for their own purposes. Therefore, the Unilin Group advises you to check the cookie policies of these third parties.
In the detailed information on the cookies Unilin Group uses (see ‘Vendor Details’ via our cookie settings) you can find out which cookies are third party. Third party cookies are set on your browser based on your consent. You can withdraw your consent at any time (at a later time) (see point 4).
4 HOW CAN YOU MANAGE OR TURN OFF COOKIES?
You have the option to choose to accept all cookies, reject all cookies or manage your cookie settings via the cookie banner that appears on our website when you first visit the site. If you refuse cookies or do not click on our cookie banner, only essential cookies will be set on your browser. We will not place any other cookies on your device unless you have given us your consent. If you have given your consent for non-essential cookies, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. You can withdraw your consent via the cookie tool on our website.
If you wish to block cookies, delete existing cookies (withdraw consent) or change your cookie settings, you can do so via your internet browser’s cookie settings. You can find these settings in the “options” or “preferences” menu of your internet browser. Otherwise, you should use the 'Help' option in your internet browser for more details. 5 DATA SUBJECT’S RIGHTS
Certain data that we collect from you through cookies allow us to identify you as a natural person or may be linked to you. These data therefore qualify as personal data, which is why our privacy policy applies to the processing of these data by our cookies. You will find your rights, which you can exercise as a data subject, in article 10 of our privacy policy.
6 RETENTION PERIOD OF THE PERSONAL DATA
The cookies we set can collect personal data. These cookies can be stored on your computer for different periods of time. In other cases, these cookies remain stored for a longer period of time and can also be used during a subsequent visit to this website (the “permanent cookies”). We do not keep personal data longer than necessary for the purpose of the processing for which the data was collected. For more detailed information on the retention period of the cookies Unilin Group uses, see ‘Vendor Details’ via our cookie settings.
7 (PERSONAL) DATA TRANSFERS
Certain third parties (e.g. Google), which Unilin Group relies on, and which have access to the (personal) data collected by our cookies may transfer your personal data to a country outside the European Economic Area (e.g. the United States). Please refer to the privacy and cookie policies of these respective third parties for more information about this transfer:
The Unilin Group uses Google Analytics cookies to analyse your use of our website. In order to protect your personal data, we have concluded a processing agreement with Google Analytics. Furthermore, we have made the use of these cookies as privacy friendly as possible by choosing to mask the last octet of your IP address and to disable the possibility of 'data sharing'. We do not use other Google services in combination with the Google Analytics cookies. You can withdraw your consent to the setting of these cookies at any time (see point 4). If you use Google Chrome, you can always install the Google browser extension that provides an opt-out for Google Analytics cookies.
